The story begins in 1693 with Giovanni Paolo Feminis, an Italian visionary who created a revolutionary formula: Aqua Mirabilis. Made from 18 medicinal plants, this exceptional water was originally used for its therapeutic properties. It soothed, calmed, and revitalized.

At a time when the line between medicine and perfumery was still blurred, Aqua Mirabilis acted on both body and mind. Its success was such that it was patented in Cologne, Germany, where it took on the name we know today: Eau de Cologne.

Jean Marie Farina: the birth of a legend

In 1806, Jean Marie Farina inherited this precious formula. He quickly recognized its potential and set out to bring it to Europe and the world.

This marked the true birth of Eau de Cologne as we know it today. Its fresh, refined scent captivated the greatest European courts. Among its most devoted admirers were figures who would today be considered true influencers: Napoleon Bonaparte, Queen Victoria, and the Tsar of Russia.
